A brief overview of the life of Joseph Bates, a retired sea captain who joined the Advent Awakening of the mid 19th century in North America, which, based on a historicist view of Bible prophecy, expected Jesus' return to earth in the early 1840s. This is based upon "Lest We Forget", Vol. 1, No. 3, and is given from a Seventh-day Adventist viewpoint by Fred Bischoff, who works with the Adventist Pioneer Library (www.APLib.org).
