Life of John Byington
Featuring Fred BischoffA brief overview of the life of John Byington, a Methodist lay minister involved with the cause of abolition, who became a believer in the doctrines of Sabbath-keeping Adventists in the early 1850's, helping to build the first church building for this fledgling group (in Buck's Bridge, New York), and later served as the first president of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. This is based upon "Lest We Forget", Vol. 2, No. 1, and is given from a Seventh-day Adventist viewpoint by Fred Bischoff, who works with the Adventist Pioneer Library (www.APLib.org).
